CFR Supports Corporate Leadership and Collaboration in Renewable Energy

Solar Panel

On August 4, 2021, McDonald’s Corporation and eBay Inc. announced further progress towards their renewable energy targets by contracting for power from Lightsource bp, the developers of Ventress Solar. CustomerFirst Renewables is proud to have supported such a unique and impactful aggregation bringing 345 MW of new generation online.

Both companies signed corporate power purchase agreements for electricity from what will be Louisiana’s largest solar project. Upon completion, the project will generate over 600,000 MWh of clean energy every year, which is equivalent to the average annual consumption of 59,000 homes in the U.S. This aggregation is an example of the types of partnerships needed to make significant progress towards climate action, and CFR is pleased to be at the forefront of advising this type of collaboration to innovate the industry.

Emma Cox, the Global Renewable Energy Lead at McDonald’s, noted that the corporation “is uniquely positioned to help spur significant action around climate change.” This deal is “the latest milestone in making significant progress toward our science-based emissions reduction target for 2030, but also demonstrate[s] our belief that meaningful solutions to building a sustainable future require partnership and collaboration."

eBay’s Chief Sustainability Officer, Renee Morin, recognized that the “collaboration with Lightsource bp and McDonald’s uniquely propels our shared goal to accelerate the transition to a clean energy economy.”

Further highlighting the benefits of collaboration, Kevin Smith, CEO of the Americas for Lightsource bp, emphasized that “customer aggregation deals such as this allow businesses of varying sizes and energy needs to come together and spur meaningful development of clean and affordable energy sources in the US.”

The CustomerFirst Renewables team would like to congratulate McDonald’s and eBay on their progress towards their respective sustainability goals. We are thrilled to have played a role in coordinating these agreements and are looking forward to seeing other organizations strive for this level of collaboration and impact.
